History

Based on the decree of the Council of Ministers published in the Official Gazete Issue 27405 on November 13th, 2009 with number 2009/15546 27 and the additional decree of the Council of Ministers published in the Official Gazete Issue 27416 on November 24th, 2009 with number 2009/15612 27 Vocational and Technical Education Faculties with 5 different programs will be closed after graduation of the current students but no later than 2015-2016 academic year. Within the academic institutions embodying the closed faculties, 26 new faculties with 3 different programs are established. Within the universities embodying the closed 21 faculties, (19 of which are Technical Education Faculties and 2 Vocational and Technical Education Faculties) 21 new Faculty of Technologies are established. 7 of these 21 Faculties were established with the criteria compliant with the current engineering education programs and were open to student enrollment by the academic year 2010-2011. One of the faculties open to student enrollment is Faculty of Technology embodied by Marmara University. 


With 11 academicians 6 different Engineering programs were established within this Faculty of Technology and 3 programs; based on 2010 Student Selection and Placement System (ÖSYS), for each of Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering and Metallurgy and Materials Engineering programmes 52 students of which 21 students from general quota and 31 students from Vocational and Technical High Schools were accepted
